Product Introduction and Specifications

The Freemax Marvos X marks the latest addition to Freemax’s extensive line of AIO kits. Freemax has earned a solid reputation for producing some of the finest sub-ohm tanks and coils in the vaping industry. Their journey began with the exceptional Fireluke series and continued with a range of products, spanning from sub-ohm tanks like the Mesh Pro and Maxus series to disposable tanks like the GEMM.

The Marvos X, an extension of the Marvos series, follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, some of which I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing and appreciating in the past. This AIO kit is powered by a single 18650 battery, featuring a vibrant color screen and adjustable wattage settings. The included Marvos CRC pod tank boasts a generous 5 mL capacity and utilizes Freemax’s latest coil series known as MS-D.

In 2021, the Marvos 60W set a high bar with its exceptional coils and precise specifications. Read on to see if the Marvos X can claim the throne this year.

Build Quality and Design

The Freemax Marvos X presents itself as a medium-sized AIO device, measuring 137 mm in height, 33 mm in width, and 31 mm in depth. It falls within the size range of compact single-battery kits, distinguishing itself from typical internal battery AIOs.

In my evaluation, I had the pleasure of examining the brown color variant. What sets the Marvos X apart from many other AIO systems is its approach to color design. Instead of uniform frame colors with differing panels, the Marvos X offers distinct frame colors that correspond to the tank colors. This results in three elegant design combinations: two with black frames (gray and light blue), two with silver frames (navy blue and black), and two with gunmetal frames (brown and green).

These devices boast an attractive appearance that seamlessly merges sophistication with a tech-inspired aesthetic. Each color variant features leather panels on the battery cover, each bearing its own unique etched design. The brown variant, which I had, showcases a symbol of Neptune, the Roman god of the sea—a design that combines a horse and shield. The other two design options draw inspiration from the gods Mars and Jupiter.

Adding to the techy aspect of the design are the LEDs, which are not only visible through the clear front panel but also along the leather backing, providing a glimpse of the internal chip. This attention to detail enhances the overall aesthetics, making the Marvos X one of the most visually appealing devices I’ve had the opportunity to review.

The front of the device features three buttons: a prominent fire button situated above the screen, along with up and down buttons below it. Near the bottom of the front face, there is a small slider that serves to lock the device, a convenient feature for safe pocket storage. The rectangular, colored screen on the front allows users to select from five UI color options.

Getting Started

The Freemax Marvos X is a user-friendly AIO system with straightforward operations, although it offers a range of LED customization options. To get started, follow these steps:

  1. Power On/Off: Simply click the fire button five times to turn the device on or off.
  2. Lock Adjustment Buttons: To lock the adjustment buttons (up and down), hold them simultaneously. Additionally, a slider at the bottom can be used to lock the device for secure pocket storage.
  3. Adjust Wattage: To adjust the wattage, use the up and down buttons located beneath the screen.
  4. Menu Access: Pressing the fire button three times grants access to the menu.

In the menu, you have the flexibility to change between various modes, including Power, Smart, Bypass, and VPC. Furthermore, you can customize the LEDs and screen colors. The screen itself displays essential information, such as wattage, live voltage during firing, battery level, puff count, and coil resistance.

It’s worth noting that while the device is rated for up to 100 watts, some users may find this wattage range excessive for a device powered by a single 18650 battery. A cap at 80 watts might have been more appropriate, considering the coil options available.

The proprietary pod tank is secured by magnets, allowing for easy insertion and removal. Airflow adjustment is achieved through a typical AFC (Airflow Control) ring located between the pod and the mod. This ring offers a smooth adjustment mechanism with a stopper and easy handling. The pod itself is lightly tinted, providing excellent visibility of the e-liquid level. The tint is so subtle that it’s almost clear, which is a convenient feature.

The Marvos CRC pod tank employs plug-and-play coils, a common feature in such devices. To replace a coil, simply pull it out from the bottom and insert a new one. It’s advisable to empty the pod before changing the coil, but if done horizontally, a small amount of e-liquid may remain. What’s particularly convenient is that the coil is designed to be easily removed by hand and doesn’t require any special tools.

The Freemax Marvos X Pod employs Freemax’s latest coil line, the MS-D series, featuring SS904 parallel mesh coils. The kit includes two coil options: the MS-D 0.15 ohm and the MS-D 0.25 ohm.

When it comes to performance, Freemax has long been renowned for its exceptional coil performance, excelling in both flavor and coil longevity. The Marvos X maintains this tradition of excellence. Both included coils deliver exceptional DL (Direct Lung) vaping experiences, with the 0.15-ohm coil performing optimally at around 70 watts and the 0.25-ohm coil at approximately 40 watts. Freemax’s reputation for coil and tank quality, established since the original Fireluke, remains unshaken, making it a top choice for vapers seeking superior performance.

Battery life and charging

The Freemax Marvos X Pod features a Type-C charging port, conveniently located on the bottom front of the device. The manufacturer specifies a charge rate of 2A, and in my testing, I achieved a maximum charge rate of 1.834A. This indicates a solid charging rate for the device. Moreover, the Marvos X supports pass-through vaping, allowing you to use the device while it’s charging. When you press the fire button to vape, charging pauses temporarily, and it resumes automatically when you release the button. This feature provides added convenience for vapers who don’t want to wait for their device to charge before using it.

  • Available in six stylish color options
  • Large and bright color screen
  • Convenient device lock slider
  • Comes with two coil options, and four other coil options are compatible with this kit

  • 80-watt maximum output might have been more suitable for a single-18650 mod, as 100 watts could strain the battery and lead to reduced overall battery life.

In summary, the Marvos X is an excellent device that combines the convenience of a single-battery mod with the performance of a sub-ohm tank, all within an all-in-one (AIO) form factor. This device is ideal for vapers seeking a stylish and straightforward direct lung (DL) vaping experience while being able to swap out batteries instead of relying on onboard charging.

With its remarkable coils and bottom airflow design in the Marvos CRC tank, you can expect outstanding flavor production. The mod itself boasts an attractive appearance and functions flawlessly. While it’s challenging to identify any significant drawbacks in this device, a maximum output of 80 watts would have been a preferable choice, even though the available coil options are unlikely to necessitate the full 100 watts. Despite this minor consideration, the Freemax Marvos X stands out as yet another exceptional product from Freemax.
